Working as System Engineer on a new division of this company called Systems Integration group. Dealing with custom made Emergency Shutdown Systems, based in Analogue and Digital Electronics circuits interconnected together forming a robust and reliable safety system. With a great variety of customers and industrial sectors but mainly utilities companies, with big names in the Industry such as National Grid, NPower, BNFL,OPA and British Gas. The systems are tailored to the needs of the customer and the tight requirements of the Industrial process that needs to be controlled and shutdown in a safe manner. All the systems comply with the latest safety regulations, working under harsh environments like offshore platforms, nuclear plants and power stations. As part of my duties I work in a small team of engineers to deliver new projects, modifications of existing systems, and regular sites visits for inspection and commissioning. The skills involved when working with these systems are electronics designing skills, understanding of control systems, field instrumentation, analogue and digital signal conditioning and the theory behind safety systems for industrial applications. PLC and SCADA software are used in some projects; therefore some programming languages skills are needed. I am still involved in Serck Coventry projects such as SCADA software verification, Visual Basic programming for the Assets management database of the Customer support department and some SCADA configuration when required to help in other projects. To support some of the existing systems and customers sites, I have been qualified to work offshore under certification called OPITO/HUET, I also have different health and safety qualifications required to visit Power Stations, Nuclear plants, Gas Storage Centres and Chemical Plants.

June 2007 till January 2010                             Software Test Engineer. Serck Controls Ltd, Rowley Drive, Coventry, West Midlands, CV3 4FH, UK.

Working in different projects using Scada software product from Serck and Control Microsystems called SCX or ClearScada. Projects ranging from Visual Basic programming, fixing of a Database report system, design, configuration and commissioning of new and standard Telemetry projects. One of the main projects I have been involved is the design of the SCADA system for Portsmouth Water, where two new pumping stations were added to the current system. I am also dedicated to research complex issues that our customers have using Serck software applications. These issue can be software or hardware related. As a test software Engineer I have participated in full integrity software tests of the main SCADA product of this company, written in VisualC++ and Visual Basic. Software testing to ensure compatibility with Microsoft updates releases every month. I recreate customer systems and scenarios working with Virtual Machines software like VMware, Visual Basic automation scripts, Crystal reports, Visual Studio 2008. I have designed and programmed a Assets Database for Serck using SQL server and Visual basic interface to connect to the database and present the data. I have also worked on a building management system (BMS) project for the BNFL. I have completed a Rockwell Software Course in Birmingham Training Centre ‘ControlLogix Maintenance Accelerated using RSLogix5000’.

Feb 2007 till June2007                                     Helpdesk IT Engineer. FKI Logistex Ltd. University Way Cranfield Technology Park Cranfield Bedfordshire MK43 0EQ United Kingdom .

Working for this IT Company which is dedicated to manufacture software tools and hardware control systems destined for Warehouses. From this department we have to deal with the customers technical problems with the software applications. Work mainly in Linux, doing remote technical support, writing scripts and tools to fix issues in C language, and investigating software crashes. At the same time I am still working in my previous project, writing my work in a report.

January 2005 till January 2007              Telecoms Engineer Bioscience Technology Institute at Cranfield University. Silsoe, Barton Road. MK45 4DT.

Working in the research and development of “Wireless Sensor Networks”. Concerned with embedded applications, communications protocols and radio frequency design. The project’s aim is to develop an “Alarm System to detect Oil Leakages in soil”. Working with the standard IEEE 802.15.4, and TinyOS (Event Driven Operating System). My duties in this role cover the software and hardware full cycle designs required in this project. I am writing TinyOS applications in a language called NesC, which comes a as variation of C language. The hardware platform I am working with has a 16 bit Texas Instruments Microcontroller (MSP430). TinyOS is an event driven operative system, specifically design for embedded applications where there are several limitations as power consumption and memory space. I am focusing in the routing communication protocol and algorithm design. I am also developing Graphical user interface written in Java in order to collect the data coming from the sensors.

October 2004 till December 2004.          ATM Engineer. Hanco ATM Systems Ltd Willow House Dencora Business Park, Breckland, Linford Wood, Milton Keynes, MK14 6EU.

Working as an ATM Engineer in the PIN and CHIP upgrade project, covering the area of Lincolnshire and Yorkshire, installing new software and hardware in the ATM units. As a freelance under an umbrella company I had to plan the site commissioning and upgrading.

Telecoms Division Norcontrol S.A. (Soluziona – Unión Fenosa). Calle Manzanares nº 4 28005 Madrid - Spain.

As a Telecommunication Engineer in this company I participated in different projects. The main project during my time in this company was set up along with other engineers the measurement of Electromagnetic Radiation from Antennas for different companies at that time such as Amena Company (mobile phone operator GSM). Surveying and reporting to the Ministry of Science and Technology in Spain, in accordance with the RD 1066/2001 and CTE 2031 approved by the Spanish government. Our team also made similar reports for other companies using different technologies such DCS, GPRS, TV and LMDS operators. Responsible of training activities for this project such as courses concerning the measurement of Electromagnetic radiation from Communication systems. Another project I was involved with was to translate and supervise the technical documentation in English for the Quality Control of the deployment of a fibre optic network in Spain for a customer called COLT Telecom. Another training course I prepared was about PMD (Polarization Mode Dispersion) effects and measurement in a fiber optics network for this company. I also was a member of the team responsible for technical specifications for a Cable operator Company. I had training of TEMS Ericcson for the coverage analysis of a mobile phone base station for AMENA (GSM and GPRS), using Mapinfo to present the results to the Company’s Engineering Department. I attended a practical seminar of Anritsu Company on measurement equipment for communications.
